North African Coast & Desert 1942
players: 4 in 2 teams (blue + yellow = allies, red + purple = axis)
concept: This is an partly historical World War II map! It makes sense for teamplay only:
Blue+Yellow vs. Red+Purple. Block DFA and Helicopters, since this is WW2.
Axis (Italy) invade North Africa, Allies hold Egypt, Greece, French Marokko, Algeria and Tunisia.
German Axis forces seize Greece, expedition corps (Rommel) sent to help Italians out in North Africa after italian heavy losses. Axis control vast territories.
Allies (US) landing in western North Africa (Operation Torch). Battle for Tunisia (Eisenhower). British counteroffensive out of Egypt (Montgomery) from the east.
known biases: This map showed to be ally biased on the long run, this latest version
should deal with it.
North African Coast & Desert 1942 (weebot mod)
changes to normal weewar version:
this second map was as always all done by xml alteration, really tough work believe me - it's huge!
For this map I added also deep sea and I created a better sea tile, which shows the waves slowing down small vessels. The new bunkers
are located in the vicinity of the Tobruk region, which was heavily fortified in WW2 and had seen a lot of siege and bombardment..
Roads should fasten the game up on this map, in fact this map was my main motivation to create roads at all. There is some secondary targets
(towns) in the southern desert, but they are hardly worth the journey through the sand. Its more important to get your
reinforcements on route, in some parts the bases are away from each other quite a distance. Hills on this map also can be of importance.
They increase hard attack, so try to position your light artillery or air defense on them. Maybe I add some more units in the future, I just have seen historical
strength statistics of that theater of war: there was dozens of cruisers, battleships, subs and also aircraft carriers active,
just the Germans lost ~ 8000 aircraft in North Africa... Since weebot is not bound to weewar map size limitations, I also thought about expanding the map to the right for 2 or 3 more
y-columns to have the right riverbank of the Nile included in some later version. Speaking of later versions, I hope that we can get some transport units into weebot some day. Halftracks
on roads and convoys of freighters would really help to build up suspense and tactics even more :)
