Shallow Water Terrain Ingame Example
An example of shallow water where troopers and tanks of both sides try to cross the river. They cant enter normal water tiles and are limited to the fords and passages indicated by shallow water tiles. The speedboat can move on any water tile and the big destroyer cant go up the river where the fords block its route behind the harbor tile on this map.
Only fast land units (at least 9 mobility points: trooper, raider, tank, assault artillery, ...) could enter shallow water tiles, but should become very vulnerable during the crossing attempt.

What for: Shallow water tiles could be used to indicate rivers, still crossable by some light units with big combat disadvantages if attacked. Until now map makers used swamp tiles or water tiles to indicate rivers, an unsatisfactory and besides that a bad looking solution (battleships in small rivers? no speedboats access to "swamp tile rivers"...). Also this tile would be usefull to create shallow coastlines to hold of battleships and destroyers to fire that far inlands.
